A latch, a lid, or the control giving up
The first row is mechanical. A latch that has worn or been knocked out of line lets the door drift off its catch when someone leans on the counter, and a recent Viking stops the moment its door opens; left alone for a few seconds, it switches itself off. A latch is priced after the diagnosis.
The second line is water. With nothing coming in, recent Viking models pause the cycle and flash a warning until the supply returns. - Press the door closed firmly until it latches, and watch whether it holds when you lean lightly on the handle.
- Under the sink, find the valve that feeds the dishwasher and turn it fully open, if it has a handle you can reach without moving anything.
- Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker, wait a minute, switch it back on and start one short cycle. Do not keep resetting it.
